Cromer annual raft race postponed over World Cup clash

An annual raft race in Norfolk has been called off because it was due to be held at the same time as the World Cup clash between England and Germany.

The seaside town of Cromer is holding its carnival and a highlight was to be the raft race.

However, many of the teams expected to take part represent pubs in the town and surrounding villages.

Organisers decided to postpone the event until July as they thought it might be overshadowed by the game.

On the other side of the county, organisers of an airshow at Old Buckenham said the game would not be shown there.

Instead, visitors are being urged to bring their own radios to keep up with the match while watching the aircraft.
