Man due in court charged with arson at house in Surrey

A man has been charged with arson recklessly endangering life following a fire at a house in Surrey.

The emergency services were called to Brakey Hill, Bletchingley, on Friday after reports a vehicle had rammed the garden gates and the house was alight.

No-one was inside at the time and the fire was extinguished, although the ground floor was left severely damaged.

A man was arrested at Gatwick Airport by Sussex Police a few hours later, and is due before Redhill magistrates.

Detectives are appealing for any witnesses that may have been in the area of Brakey Hill on Friday afternoon and saw what happened or any suspicious activity to contact Surrey Police.
