Boy arrested after fire wrecks Northallerton homes
A teenage boy has been arrested after a suspected arson attack wrecked two homes in a North Yorkshire village.
Forty firefighters were called out to tackle the blaze at neighbouring houses in Ingleby Arncliffe, near Northallerton, on Sunday evening.
The fire is believed to have started in the garage of one of the houses, which contained two diesel fuel tanks.
North Yorkshire Police said a local teenager was arrested and released on bail pending further inquiries.
Officers said nobody was in either property at the time of the fire.
Det Insp Heather Pearson, who is leading the investigation, said: "The fire damage to both properties is very substantial.
"However, thankfully no-one was physically injured in the incident."
She said investigations into the cause of the fire were continuing.
