Fire crews are continuing to tackle a blaze at a block of flats in south Manchester.

Two fire engines remained overnight at the flats on the site of the former Withington Hospital on Nell Lane, Didsbury.

All roads in the area have been re-opened, but police warned of some local disruption as access to the development remains closed.

The fire began shortly before 1550 BST on Monday.

A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said that the flats were mainly unoccupied following two gas explosions at the building in December, which caused extensive damage.
