Teenage murder suspects held over Maidenhead fire death

A 16-year-old girl and a 19-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 23-year-old woman died in a house fire in Berkshire.

The victim is thought to have been visiting the property in Moor Lane, Maidenhead, when she died in the early hours of Friday.

A number of people escaped from the house, which was badly damaged, and one man sustained leg injuries.

The teenagers were arrested at their homes in Slough on Monday night.

They remain in custody.

A post-mortem examination found the 23-year-old woman, who has not yet been named by police, died from the effects of breathing in smoke.

Her family has been informed.

Thames Valley Police have appealed for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at about 0020 BST on Friday to come forward.
