Roadworks to shut lanes of A34 near Newbury overnight

Lanes of a major route through Berkshire are to close overnight for maintenance work to take place.

Southbound lanes of the A34, which links the Midlands to the south of England, will close overnight near Newbury.

The road between Curridge and Tothill Services will be affected between 2200 BST and 0600 BST on Wednesday.

The northbound lanes will then close during the same hours overnight from Wednesday. Diversions will be in place.

A Highways Agency spokesperson said: "The work will involve replacing traffic counting measures in the road surface and renewing white lines.

"The closure will also be used to clear litter from the carriageway."
