£2m Lowestoft campsite deal 'to bring hope'

A £2m deal to lease a Suffolk campsite will bring fresh hope to the local economy, a council has said.

Waveney District Council has signed a 99-year lease for Tingdene Parks Ltd to run North Denes Caravan and Camping Site in Lowestoft.

The council said the deal will see about £2m invested in the site and will give the council an annual income.

It will bring tourists, visitors and employment back to a neglected part of the town, the council said.

Matthew Gibbard, of Tingdene Parks Ltd, said: "We want to be fully open for business by the start of season in 2011."

Tingdene Parks Ltd also owns and operates Waterside Park and Alandale Park, both also within the Waveney area.
