Police are appealing for witnesses as part of a new investigation into the death of a man who was attacked in a Wiltshire town.

Adrian Cooksey, 50, from Trowbridge, died on 8 March 2009 after he was found with fatal head injuries in Spa Road, Melksham.

Photos of three cars and a man police say could be a potential witness have been released.

Thomas Minshull, 20, of Melksham, was cleared of manslaughter last November.

Wiltshire Police want to speak to a man seen walking along Spa Road in Melksham at 0225 GMT on 8 March 2009.

They also want to trace the drivers of three vehicles seen in the area at the time of the assault.

Det Ch Insp Ian Saunders, of Wiltshire Police, said: "We are currently re-investigating the assault that led to Adrian Cooksey's death.

"As part of this new investigation we need the assistance of the public in order to identify a number of vehicles and their drivers and an individual who were all in the area of Melksham Market Place at the relevant time.

"These potential witnesses are vitally important and may have seen something significant or be able to add information of value.

"We urge anyone with information to come forward."
