Hereford hosts mobility scooter and wheelchair parade

Dozens of people in scooters and wheelchairs are parading through Hereford to celebrate 20 years of a free mobility service in the city.

It was one of the first cities in Britain to offer Shopmobility in 1990.

The request service lends scooters and wheelchairs to people with limited mobility to help them access shops and leisure services, usually in the town.

Herefordshire Council provides staff and premises and the vehicles are owned by Hereford Access For All group.

A spokesman for the council said more than 6,000 users were registered with Hereford Shopmobility Scheme.
