Greenock bus firm fined over service lapse

A Greenock-based bus operator has been fined £60,500 for failing to operate local services.

The Traffic Commissioner for Scotland, Joan Aitken, imposed the sanction on McGill's Bus Services Limited after a public inquiry into complaints.

However, she also allowed the firm to increase the size of its fleet from 110 to 150.

Under the terms of legislation, McGill's has until 31 August to pay the fine to the Scottish government.
