Man stable after buttock shooting in Bootle

A 21-year-old man is recovering in hospital after being shot in the buttock in what police believe was a targeted attack on Merseyside.

Officers were called to Warton Street in Bootle shortly after 0245 BST following a report of shots being fired.

No-one else was injured and the victim is in a stable condition.

A 24-year-old man from the Waterloo area has been arrested in connection with the incident.

The full circumstances surrounding the shooting have yet to be established although it is believed to have been a targeted attack, a police spokesman said.

The area has been cordoned off for forensic examination and patrols have been stepped up as officers carry out house-to-house inquiries in the area.
