Free health checks for Teessiders

Free NHS health checks have been offered to people living on Teesside.

The cardiovascular screening check is used to reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and kidney disease.

It works by monitoring the height, weight, cholesterol, blood pressure and family history of those who choose to be screened.

It will be available in the Life Store in The Mall, Middlesbrough, every Saturday in 2010.

Anyone aged 40 to 74 who has not had an NHS Health Check in the past two years will be eligible for screening.
