Woman forced into car and raped in Portsmouth

A woman was raped after being forced into a car by a man in Portsmouth.

The victim was walking along Fratton Road when a small red car pulled up alongside her at about 0100 BST.

The 32-year-old said a man got out and they spoke for about half an hour before he got her into the back of the vehicle.

He drove around and stopped off at a park, thought to be St Mary's Recreation Ground near Kingston Prison, where he raped her.

They got back in the car and he dropped her off in Kingston Road at the bus stop by the Co-op club shortly after 0300 BST.

The suspect is described as white, aged about 30, about 5ft 8ins tall with short dark hair.

He was wearing a white T-shirt with horizontal blue stripes, beige knee-length cargo shorts and white trainers.

Two members of the public helped the woman and contacted police.
