Teenagers arrested after attack by gang in Newquay

A 16-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy have been arrested after an attack by a gang on three men in Newquay.

The men, all holiday-makers in their 20s, were attacked in Tower Road near Fistral Beach on Saturday night when they were approached by the group.

After the attack, one man, aged 23, was taken to hospital with a broken nose and cheekbone. He is also believed to have a damaged eye, police said.

The arrested teenagers were later released on bail.

Phone stolen

The men were walking along a footpath which leads from Fistral Beach through the golf course when they were approached by the group of males and a girl at about 2345 BST on Saturday.

It is believed that the girl attacked the men and her companions joined in, police said.

During the assault, a mobile phone was also stolen. The gang ran off and the victims raised the alarm at a nearby residential home.

The arrested teenagers, who were local, were located in nearby Sydney Street and taken into custody on suspicion of robbery, police said.

Detectives said they believed two other males were involved in the incident and they were trying to trace them.
