A man has appeared in court charged with murder after an assault victim in South Yorkshire died in hospital.

Brian Wilburn, 24, died on Sunday after an incident earlier that day on The Avenue, Bentley, near Doncaster.

Scott Anderson, 20, of Balfour Road, Bentley, appeared before Doncaster magistrates on Tuesday charged with his murder.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on 13 July.

Mr Wilburn's parents, Janet and Robert Wilburn, said in statement: "Our Bri was a very loving son to us and caring brother to his brother Robert and sister Kerry.

"Bri was a very popular lad and would do anything for anyone, he had a heart of gold and he has been cruelly taken from us.

"Not only will he be sadly missed by his family and friends, he will be missed by everyone in Bentley as everyone knew him.

"It is such a huge loss to our family that his young life has been cut so short, I don't know what we will do without him."
