Cyclist killed in car collision on A458 near Shrewsbury

Part of a Shropshire road remains closed after a cyclist was killed in a collision with a car.

Emergency crews were called to the A458, which links Shrewsbury and Welshpool, at Onslow Bank, near Ford, at about 2220 BST on Tuesday.

A black Mini hit the man, aged in his 40s. He died at the scene. The female driver was not hurt, police said.

A section of the A458 is likely to remain closed until about 1100 BST.

Diversions are in place while investigations were being carried out at the scene, the spokesman added.

Anyone who may have seen what happened is asked to contact police.

The cyclist has not yet been formally identified and the coroner's office has been informed.
