Dumfries man cleared of indecent assault

A Dumfries man has been cleared by a jury of a charge of indecently assaulting a woman with intent to rape.

Thomas Donnelly, 59, of the town's Carrick Road, had maintained a plea of not guilty throughout a three-day trial before Sheriff Kenneth Ross.

It had been alleged he committed the offence at a house in the town last August.

The jury at Dumfries Sheriff Court returned a verdict of not guilty on the charge.
