Lincolnshire man jailed for sexual grooming
A 42-year-old man who groomed a 15-year-old girl over the internet in an attempt to have sex with her has been jailed for two years and four months.
Trevor Quick, of Dexter Avenue, Grantham, Lincolnshire, contacted the girl via a chatroom saying he was 20.
He said he would drive to see her for sex, but she grew suspicious and he was challenged by her friend's stepfather.
Quick admitted a charge of sexual grooming and was jailed at Gloucester Crown Court.
The prosecution said Quick had asked the girl for her mobile phone number and sent a large number of texts asking her to send him pictures of herself.
In January Quick drove from his then home in Newark to meet the girl in Herefordshire.
But she and a friend panicked when they saw how old Quick was.
They told the friend's stepfather, who went with them to where the defendant was sitting in his car, having sent a message saying where he was.
When they challenged him he said he was waiting for a job interview and drove away.
Quick also admitted possessing and making indecent images.
He was arrested last December after police were given anonymous information he had been trying to contact girls on the internet.
His computer was seized and it was found to contain four videos of children and indecent images, including some of bestiality.
Passing sentence, Judge Martin Picton told Quick: "You pursued this girl with a view to having sexual relations with her."
For the grooming offences, Quick was given two years imprisonment and he was also given a further four months in prison for possessing the indecent images.
He will be subject to a sexual offences prevention order and will have to sign the sexual offenders register.
