Man charged with murder over stab death in Rotherham

A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a woman who was found stabbed to death at her house in South Yorkshire.

Julie Ann Gallagher's body was found by a relative at her house on Foljambe Road, Eastwood, Rotherham, on 27 March.

George William Gallagher, 55, of Eldon Road, Eastwood, has been charged with her murder.

He was remanded in custody at Rotherham Magistrates' Court and will next appear at Sheffield Crown Court on Monday.

A second man, 54, arrested in connection with the incident was released from police bail.

Ms Gallagher, 41, died from a single stab wound to the chest.

She was last seen as she left the Cranworth pub alone at about 0115 GMT on Thursday 24 March.
