Work to replace Catthorpe viaduct to begin

Work to replace a 45-year-old viaduct at junction 19 of the M1 begins on Monday.

Catthorpe viaduct, which carries M6 southbound traffic over the M1, will be replaced with a new one, slightly south of the existing one.

Both motorways will remain open during the work but motorists are warned to leave extra time for journeys as there will be roadworks.

About 23,000 vehicles use the viaduct every day.
