Seven on bail after fatal stabbing in Bristol street

Seven men arrested after an 18-year-old man was stabbed to death in a Bristol street have been released on police bail.

An eighth man has been released without charge.

Avon and Somerset Police named the victim as Abdirisak Mohamoud, from Fishponds, and said he died from a single stab wound.

The incident happened in Stapleton Road at the junction with Villiers Road, in Easton, on Thursday night.

Mr Mohamoud was taken to the Bristol Royal Infirmary where he died.

The eight arrested were all aged between 16 and 20.

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Jones, who is leading the investigation, appealed for witnesses to come forward.

He said: "There were a number of people who were in the vicinity of Stapleton Road and Villiers Road Easton, Bristol prior to, during and after the incident.

"I am appealing for these people to come forward and contact the incident room.

"I would once again appeal for calm within the community and I continue to seek their support in bringing to justice the person or persons responsible for this tragic death."
