Petrol bombs have been thrown during trouble in the Ballybeen estate on the outskirts of east Belfast.

Police were called to the area at about 2240 BST on Saturday in response to reports that petrol bombs had been thrown in the street.

Officers at the scene then came under attack from stones and other objects.

Three petrol bombs were thrown in the direction of the police's vehicles. No damage or injuries were caused.

A police spokesman said officers maintained a presence in the area and a large number of glass bottles were seized.

Later at about 0040 BST, two petrol bombs were thrown onto the main road at Ballybeen.
