A man has died and two people are in hospital following a fight in the West Midlands.

Police were called to reports of disorder in Church Street and Lichfield Street, Bilston, on Saturday night.

A 34-year-old man died as a result of a stab injury. A second man was seriously injured and another man was treated for a stab wound.

It is thought two groups of people started fighting. Four men were arrested at the scene.

Extensive cordon

It is thought the fighting broke out in an area between the town hall and the Spread Eagle public house.

The scene has been cordoned off while forensic inquiries and searches take place.

Det Insp Gary Dring, of West Midlands police, said an extensive cordon had been put in place.

"We have local inquiries, house-to-house inquiries, forensic specialists and detectives in place to make sure we capture all evidence available.

"We appreciate this is causing some disruption to the people of Bilston," he said.

He also appealed for anyone who may have seen the fight or who may know something about what happened to contact police.
