Fire at Lowestoft burger factory sees chemicals explode

A massive fire has erupted at a burger factory in Lowestoft, with reports of chemical canisters exploding.

Residents near the Wessex Food plant in Hadenham Road have been urged to keep windows and doors closed to prevent breathing problems.

About 100 firefighters and two air support units are at the scene, with resources being drafted in from across Suffolk.

Wessex Food processes mince and burgers at the factory, where 150 people work.

Environmental health officials are also involved in tackling the emergency.
