Sunderland men taken from Manchester plane are bailed

Two passengers arrested minutes before their plane was due to take off have been released on bail.

The Tenerife-bound aircraft had started to taxi towards the runway at Manchester Airport when the pilot was ordered to turn back on Friday morning.

Officers boarded the plane and arrested two Sunderland men, aged 34 and 43, on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

Durham Police said their arrests were in connection with a dispute about drugs.

Police said they were brought back to the North East for questioning after their arrest.
