The condition of a woman badly injured in a house fire in Bradford in which her two children died has slightly improved, police have said.

Alina Shah, 10, and her brother Aman, eight, were fatally injured at their home in Hendford Drive on 6 July.

Police said their 30-year-old mother, who suffered life-threatening injuries, was now in a "critical but stable" condition in hospital.

A 21-year-old man has been charged with the murders of the two children.

Asjid Mahmood, of Pollard Lane, Undercliffe, Bradford, appeared before city magistrates on Saturday.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Bradford Crown Court on Tuesday.

An 18-year-old man, also arrested by West Yorkshire Police, has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Alina died at the scene of the fire. Her brother was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at hospital.
