Motorcyclist killed in Sharnford crash is named

A motorcyclist who died in a collision in Leicestershire has been named by police.

Clive Rankin, 48, from Beaumont Leys, was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary following the collision on Friday night, where he later died.

The crash happened on the B4114 in Sharnford and involved a Mercedes van, which was stationary, an Audi Coupe and Yamaha R1 motorcycle.

The car and van drivers were not injured.

Det Con Nick Bryan said: "The motorcyclist was travelling behind the Audi on the Leicester-bound carriageway of the B4114.

"I would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or saw either the motorcyclist or the Mercedes van before the collision."
