Fisherman rescued from sea off Kent coast dies

A fisherman has died after he was pulled from the sea off the Kent coast.

The 48-year-old man from Margate had gone out to sea in an inflatable dinghy with a friend to go fishing.

He was rescued by coastguards after jumping into the water for a swim off Margate Pier on Friday evening and getting into difficulties.

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate, where he died on Saturday night. A post-mortem examination will take place.
