Crash kills Lancashire father driving daughter, three

A father died when the car he was driving, carrying his three-year-old daughter, was in collision with a people carrier on a road near Preston.

The 35-year-old man was driving a Honda Civic along the A59 Liverpool Road at Much Hoole when the crash with a Kia Sedona happened on Sunday at 1540 BST.

His daughter suffered a fractured collar bone and is being treated at Royal Preston Hospital.

Police said both vehicles had been travelling towards Preston.

'Most tragic'

They both left the carriageway at the junction of Liverpool Road and Liverpool Old Road near to San Marco's restaurant.

The father, from Euxton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sgt Wayne Atherton said: "Sadly, this collision has resulted in the most tragic of circumstances and we now need to piece together exactly what happened.

"A full investigation into this collision is now under way and I would appeal to anybody who witnessed it to come forward.

"I would also like to speak with anybody who may have seen either car being driven just prior to the collision."

All five occupants of the Sedona suffered minor injuries.
