Man is seriously injured in car crash in Hull

A man suffered serious injuries after he was thrown from a car which had crashed into a tree.

The Citroen Saxo car crashed at 1940 BST Saturday on the B1242 at Cowden in Hull.

A 24-year-old Cowden man was later arrested for leaving the scene of an accident.

The 26-year-old injured man was the front seat passenger. He was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary with life threatening injuries.

Rear hatch

The driver was taken to Scarborough General Hospital for a check-up.

He has since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Police are appealing for witnesses and said the blue Citroen Saxo may have been distinctive because the rear hatch of the vehicle was missing.

It is believed the car was travelling southbound between Mappleton and Aldborough on the B1242.
