Eco-friendly police station in North Norfolk opens

An eco-friendly police station fitted with a wind turbine and a solar heating system has been officially opened in Norfolk.

Cromer police station also has a sedum moss roof to insulate the building in the winter and keep it cool in summer.

The 6kw wind turbine will provide the station's electricity, with the solar heating system giving free hot water for most of the year.

An air source heat pump will supply office heating and cooling.

The station is not only a base for local officers, but also houses the North Norfolk crime reduction officer and a public inquiry office.

It opened for business in January after a seven-month building project.
