Man arrested over fatal Walthamstow shooting

A 29-year-old man has been arrested over the murder of a man who was shot dead in east London.

Wayne Powell, 39, of Tottenham, north London, was found in Higham Station Avenue in Walthamstow on 5 July.

Police said a lone gunman approached Mr Powell as he sat in his car. The victim was shot several times as he tried to escape.

The 29-year-old was arrested on Monday night and is in custody at an east London police station.

Det Ch Insp John Crossley, of the Metropolitan Police, said the gunman left on a footpath in the direction of Coningsby Gardens.
