Rapist attacks sleeping Durham woman at home

Police in Durham are hunting a masked rapist who attacked a woman as she slept on a sofa in her own home.

The woman, in her late 20s, was asleep when the incident happened at her home in the Newton Hall Estate, early on Monday morning.

It is believed the man, who wore a balaclava, entered the house through the unlocked front door.

Durham Police have been carrying out house-to-house inquiries.
