Three men have been arrested after they scaled Glasgow's Finnieston crane to protest about nuclear arms.

The protesters had climbed over a fence at the crane's base at about 06:30 and attached a large banner saying "Nuclear disarmament - if not now, when?"

Police negotiators could not coax the men down but the trio - aged 18, 19 and 25 - descended peacefully at 20:00.

They were arrested and detained in custody ahead of an appearance at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.

It is not clear if the men are attached to any anti-nuclear protest group.
