Airports set to close as BAA staff vote to strike
Workers at airport operator BAA have voted three-to-one in favour of strike action which could close Heathrow and five other UK airports.
The ballot came after the Unite union rejected a 1% pay offer from BAA, with around 50% of balloted staff voting.
BAA, which runs Heathrow, Southampton, Edinburgh, Stansted, Glasgow and Aberdeen airports, has confirmed that airports will have to close on any strike days, as essential staff including firefighters are due to take part in the walkouts.
