Debt judgement system criticised

A retired senior judge is calling for a reform of the County Court Judgement (CCJ) system saying it is currently "ancient and creaky".

Around a million CCJs are issued each year but there are no guarantees that the debtors will pay up. In around 230,000 cases last year bailiffs had to be called in to get payment or to seize goods.
