Could the UK live without The City?

It's several years now - and hundreds of millions of pounds later - since the then Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown talked about a Golden Age in the City of London.

The belief that the financial sector is vital to the very survival of the UK is unshaken, but at the same time, bankers have become as popular as a skunk with halitosis.

BBC Newsnight's Paul Mason asks if Britain could survive without them.
