Young women face higher car insurance

The European Court of Justice has re-written the rule book for insurance companies.

It says gender "can't be used as a factor" when working out the cost of insuring someone.

This will have an impact on insurance premiums - motoring, travel, healthcare and on pensions.

The change must be enforced by December next year which gives companies a transition period to adjust their prices.

Julia Caesar reports.
