EU grapples with sovereign debt in Helsinki

It is an important few weeks for Europe as it tries to get to grips with the sovereign debt crisis that has rattled the foundation of the Euro.

A series of EU summits this month starts on Friday in Helsinki - culminating on March 25th when leaders hope to sign off a "comprehensive solution" to the crisis.

On the one side the likes of Germany pushing are for stricter rules on government overspending - on the other, Greece and Ireland are asking for more leniency.

Peter Westaway is Chief European Economist at Nomura and he told the BBC what to expect from the meetings.
