Pension means-testing was a 'failure'

Plans for the biggest overhaul of the state pension system for decades will be set on Monday.

The government is proposing to introduce a single state pension and abolish the means tested credit.

But the changes will only apply to people who retire after 2015 or 2016.

Patrick Bloomfield is a partner at Hymans Robertson, the pensions and benefits consultancy and he told the BBC that pensions should be linked to life expectancy.
