OFT to investigate warranty sales
An investigation is to be launched into the sale of extended warranties on electrical goods, a practice worth more than £750m to retailers and suppliers.
But the Office of Fair Trading says many of the policies are too expensive.
A quarter of all electrical goods are sold with an extended warranty, typically when someone buys a large item in a shop.
Simon Gompertz reports.
