Virgin Atlantic 'pleased with results'

Sir Richard Branson's airline, Virgin Atlantic, soared into profit last year despite the disruption caused by Iceland's first volcanic ash cloud.

The carrier made a pre-tax profit of £18.5 million in the 12 months ending in February compared with a loss of £132M for 2009/10.

Steve Ridgway is the CEO and he told the BBC the company is hiring again and will create 'about 1000 jobs this year'.
