Fears for jobless in 2012 after record unemployment

This year unemployment rose to its highest level in 16 years.

Jobs were shed by virtually every sector as businesses did their best to stay afloat.

The few firms that did hire towards the end of the year were inundated with applications.

For example, Royal Mail got 110,000 applications for just 18,000 jobs.

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development say things are set to get worse in 2012.

Karen Stromberg is looking for a job and she says its very difficult to even get an interview.
