What will the new year bring for the US economy?

2011 has been a tough year for many Americans.

The US economy was growing at around 2% a year and creating some new jobs, but at a very sluggish pace.

Wages are stagnant and the housing market is still bust.

So will there be any improvement in 2012, and what will it mean for President Obama's bid for re-election in November?
