RBS boss Stephen Hester rejects £1m bonus

Royal Bank of Scotland chief executive Stephen Hester will give up his near £1m bonus, the BBC has learned.

The size of the proposed payment had been widely criticised because the bank is largely owned by the taxpayer.

Chancellor George Osborne said it was a "sensible and welcome" decision that now let Mr Hester focus on getting back billions of pounds for the taxpayer.

Joe Lynam reports.
