Number of jobless rises by 28,000 in three months to January
Unemployment has risen to almost 2.7 million.
The latest figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) show the number of people out of work increased by 28,000 in the months between November and January.
The number of people claiming Jobseeker's Allowance increased for the 12th month in a row, up by 7,200 in February, to 1.6 million.
David Freeman from the ONS said there had been a big increase in the number of women out of work.
