US Election: Fuel prices become a campaign issue

Despite having some of the cheapest petrol prices in the developed world, fuel costs have become a major issue in the US presidential election.

Politicians are due to discuss measures to tackle the problem on Wednesday.

It has been reported that France is in contact with the US and Britain about possible use of strategic oil stocks to steady prices.
