US earnings season begins with Alcoa results

Tuesday marks the unofficial start of the US earnings season and analysts are predicting a sharp slowdown in corporate profitability for the first three months of the year.

Kicking things off is the aluminium producer Alcoa.

Technology giant Google reports later in the week and that will be followed by the banks JP Morgan and Wells Fargo.
