Carmaker Toyota is recovering well from 2011 woes

Japanese carmaker Toyota has reported a sharp rise in its quarterly profits as it continues to recover from last year's natural disasters.

The firm said it made a net profit of 121bn yen (£1.5bn; £940m) in the three months to the end of March, up from 25.4bn a year earlier.

Toyota has seen its production level come back to normal after being disrupted by natural disasters in Japan and Thailand last year.

Yuuki Sakurai from Fukoku Capital Management told the BBC that the recent fall in the yen against other currencies was also helping Toyota get back on track.
