RBS chief apologies for Natwest bank glitches

The chief executive of RBS, which owns NatWest, has apologised for technical problems which left customers unable to pay their bills or access their money.

Stephen Hester said "on this occasion, we have let them down".

More than 1,300 branches of Natwest, RBS and Ulster Bank are opening for longer this weekend, to help clear the backlog of payments.

The BBC's Ben Thompson reports.
